CannaSense Foundation is offering four $250 College Scholarships

In Memory of Mitch Raff & Janet Byrne

To be eligible for the Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship a student must:

1.)  Be attending college or university on a full-time basis by August of 2020.

2.) Submit an answer to the essay question no later than 11:59 PM EST on July 1, 2020.  Winners announced no later than August 1, 2020

3.)  Be currently in your last year of high school or a graduate currently a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college/university.

What to submit for all scholarships :

• An essay on a topic relevant to the scholarship purpose, 500 words or less:

Essay Topic 1: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student who has experienced mental illness themselves, a family member or friend. Discuss the challenges you faced and what challenges you had to overcome in achieving your education.
Essay Topic 2: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student who has experienced the devastating loss of a parent, caregiver or sibling to suicide. Discuss the challenges you had to overcome in achieving your education and the coping mechanisms you used to aid in your healing.
Essay Topic 3: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a male or female athlete of a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student athlete. Tell us how sports has made a difference in your life and explain your journey.
Essay Topic 4: The Mitch Raff/Janet Byrne Scholarship is awarded to a High School senior or current undergraduate/graduate student who has themselves had cancer or witnessed a family member who was afflicted with cancer. Tell us about your journey and what you learned from it.
For each essay:
  • 500 words or less
  • Describe your academic and career goals, your plans to achieve them
  • Discuss the challenges you have overcome in achieving your education due to the topic you choose.
  • Please include your plan on continuing your success.
  • For applicants desiring anonymity, authentic essays will be accepted written in the third person utilitizing "John Galt" as a pen name.
